300 – Prepare for glory.
Gerard Butler———————————King Leonidas
Lena Headey———————————Queen Gorgo
Directed by Zach Snyder.
Screenplay by Zach Snyder, Kurt Johnstad, and Michael Gordon.
Based on the Graphic Novel by Frank Miller and Lynn Varley.
This movie is an incredible adaptation of Frank Millers graphic novel “300″. King Leonidas (Butler) is confronted by a messenger that Xerxes (Santoro) will require an offering of Earth and Water in order to show submission to the One True King Xerxes. King Leonidas refuses to yield as this is the way of Spartans, so his refusal to yield brings the Persian army to Sparta. Leonidas then asks for permission to use the entire Spartan army but is not given consent, so he takes his best 300 men and goes for a “walk”. He takes his men to a narrow pass where the 300 men held off the army of one million men for three days. This movie has some extremely gory violence throughout. If you are not a fan of gore then stay away from this movie. I have read the graphic novel and was impressed how Zach Snyder was able to replicate the art work up on the big screen. There is an excellent scene in the beginning where a young Leonidas is cornered by a big wolf. That scene is identical to the graphic novel… well done Zach.
