Sin City: A Dame to Kill For – There is no justice without sin.
Powers Boothe——————————Senator Roark
Directed by Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez.
Screenplay by Frank Miller.
Based on the Graphic Novel by Frank Miller.
This is the long anticipated sequel to Sin City and the first movie gave us an excess of gore. Well the sequel gives us an excess of naked women.
The movie follows several characters through their individual time lines and we watch as each delivers awe inspired action. Nancy (Alba) is still a target even though Hartigan killed himself to protect her in the first Sin City movie.
Ava (Green) uses her sexuality to control the police and we see every inch of her body which is breath taking and probably worth the price of admission. She seduces one police officer named Mort (Meloni) and has him wrapped around her finger. Bob (Piven) is trying to warn Mort that he is getting too close to Ava.
Johnny (Gordon-Levitt) is a gambler that is a little too arrogant for his own good. He walks into a bar and hits jackpots on several slot machines. He then takes a waitress and enters the backroom game where he takes most of the money in the room through some great card playing. The losers at the table are not content letting him walk away with the winnings.
Dwight (Brolin) is fighting all his inner temptations and while he is doing some work as a private detective, he saves a young woman from being killed by her lover Joey (Liotta). Dwight is a former lover of Ava and she is now under the thumb of her new husband and Dwight is hell bent on saving Ava. He must remember this is Basin City or as it is now known Sin City.
The timeline confused me in this movie because Marv was executed in the first movie and Goldie died as well. Yet in this movie they are both alive and well. Those two characters have seemed to travel back in time, where Hartigan and Nancy have both carried their story forward without change. Maybe I am confused or missed something in the movie that would explain this.
This is a good movie with an all star cast and if you are a fan of the first movie then this movie will not disappoint. If you are a fan of Eva Green then this movie will definitely not disappoint.
