On the day of their fifth wedding anniversary Amy Dunne (Pike) went missing. This movie follows what happened before and after her disappearance and the investigation into her husband Nick Dunne (Affleck). All the angles are investigated financial, infidelity, rumours, statements, etc… As the story unfolds we begin to see cracks in their marriage and as we move further we see a husband who is less than ideal. But does this make him a murderer.

He comes home and the coffee table is smashed and his wife is missing. The police find an envelope with the words “Clue One” on it. It turns out this is a clue to Amy’s wedding present to Nick. Neil Patrick Harris is a former boyfriend of Amy who turns up at the headquarters to the search party looking to help find Amy.

This movie provides some definite twists and turns you don’t see coming. The performances are excellent all around with an extra nod to Rosamund Pike. Ben Affleck is very good as Nick Dunne and Carrie Coon is amazing as Margot Dunne. Tyler Perry is strong as the lawyer for Nick and the two cops that lead the investigation are both authentic (Dickens and Fugit).

It is difficult to discuss this movie without giving away any clues to who is responsible. I thought David Fincher’s direction was flawless once again. The music score, which can be annoying in some films, actually helped elevate most of the scenes in this movie.
