Tracks – Leave everything behind.
Mia Wasikowska————————————–Robyn Davidson
Directed by John Curran.
Screenplay by Marion Nelson.
Based on the Book “Tracks” by Robyn Davidson.
This movie follows a young woman named Robyn Davidson (Wasikowska) as she attempts to cross the deserts in West Australia. The journey starts at Alice Springs and will end at the Indian Ocean. She brings along four camels and her dog. The journey would not have happened if National Geographic would not have sponsored her. The photographer they send is Rick (Driver) and his expectations are not in line with Robyn’s vision of this journey. This causes tension between the two of them through most of the movie.
Through many different experiences Robyn grows as a person and discovers strength within herself she never imagined. She takes us along her journey of discovery and although this movie dragged in some places I believe it is worth watching. The domestic gross on this movie was half a million dollars, a far cry from the twelve million dollars they used to make it. This is not your regular Hollywood car chase, explosion, blood fest that people are used to. So many people might want to stay away from this film and that would be their loss because this is an amazing story.
I have to admit the scenery and cinematography are breath taking in places. The performance by Mia Wasikowska was excellent and the definite highlight of this film.
