A Counselor (Fassbender) decides to do a one-time drug deal and set himself up for the good life. He is not broke by any means but he wants the finer things in life, like Laura (Cruz) his soon to be wife. Reiner (Bardem) did not want the counselor to enter this world and wanted him to be sure of his decision. When things go bad, the counselor is trying to figure out his best course of action to solve this situation. Everyone else is trying to tell him that his situation is untenable. This world of drug trafficking is not one built on trust and the counselor does not know who he can trust in this situation. Neither does anyone else. The world is a brutal one and the dialogue is clear on what the future holds in store for them. The future is bloody. This is a very intense movie with serious subject matter not for the faint of heart.
