Ron Woodroof  (McConaughey) is shocked when the people at the hospital tell him he has HIV/AIDS. Of course, he can’t have it because he is not a homosexual but he finally remembers having unprotected sex with an intravenous drug user. Now our homophobic antihero must fight to live. His friends ostracize him and start vandalizing his home. He could not return to work and now he is in the fight of his life. His doctors give him thirty days to live. We watch the transformation of Woodroof from homophobic to a man that actually cares and who fights for all of them. Powerful performances from McConaughey, Leto and Garner all of them make this movie worth a watch. Incredibly, McConaughey lost 40 lbs off of his normal 175 pound frame and Jared Leto lost a lot of weight as well for their respective roles. My guess is that McConaughey will take the Oscar for Best Actor.
