The story of 47 Ronin who avenge the death of their leader. There are strange creatures, witches, and excellent battle scenes in this movie. The problem is they are few and far between. The opening thirty minutes is painful to watch as they carefully forge each character’s back story. I am not familiar with the actual story of the 47 Ronin but this version did not compel me to search for more. I found the whole love story between Kai (Reeves) and Mika (Shibasaki) slow and boring. I was thrown back to “Pacific Rim” where barf bags were optional but highly recommended, same warning for this movie.
