Peter Parker (Garfield) is struggling with a promise he made to Gwen Stacy’s father. He promised the man he would stay away from Gwen (Stone) and that would keep her safe from all the enemies that Spiderman was bound to create. He sees her father all over the city even though he has died. The relationship between Peter and Gwen is the old she loves me, she loves me not, she loves me, she loves me not. We go through this during the entire movie. Max Dillon (Foxx) is saved by Spiderman and becomes obsessed with him, during a freak accident he is turned into Electro. There are some great fight scenes between the two and if that is not enough. Harry Osborne (DeHaan) has come home to his dying father and takes over the family business. Harry is dying from some genetic disease and he is convinced that the blood of Spiderman can cure his illness. The movie unfortunately drags in places and the stories within the story did not seem to mesh together very well. I thought Sally Field’s scene where she is explaining to Peter that he is her son even though she never gave birth to him, was one of the highlights in this film. Emma Stone looks beautiful as always and Jamie Foxx did an excellent job as Electro. These few bright spots were not enough to save this movie, so it balances on a fence between good and bad.
