The true story of King George VI (Firth) struggles with stuttering or as they referred to it as stammering. Early in the movie he is asked to give an address to a large crowd and the results of that disastrous speech haunted King George VI the rest of his life. His wife Queen Elizabeth (Carter) realizes that her husband is giving up on ever being able to stop his stammering, so she she finds a speech therapist by the name of Lionel Logue (Rush). Through hard work and perseverance the two men cultivate an unlikely friendship and manage to improve the Kings’ speech impediment. Colin Firth won an Academy Award for his performance in this movie and Geoffrey Rush was nominated for his performance but did not take home the Award. Truly an incredible story and a movie worth watching several times.
