The Marvel universe comes to life when several franchises converge to give us The Avengers. Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and the ever floundering franchise of the Hulk get together when Loki steals the tesseract. Nick Fury (Jackson) and S.H.I.E.L.D. are desperate to retrieve the tesseract.

Black Widow (Johanssen) is asked to get the “Big Guy” and after a bit dialogue she realizes they want her to get Bruce Banner (Ruffalo) or more importantly the Hulk. Once they return to headquarters Banner is asked to use his skills to track the tesseract with his skills involving gamma radiation. When Loki attacks a group of people to get one man’s retinal scan without the man’s permission, with that they can get their hands on some Iridium which is used as a stabilizer for the tesseract. Iron Man (Downey Jr.), Captain America (Evans), and Black Widow capture Loki after he gets the man’s eye. It seems as though Loki wanted to be captured because it was all apart of his plan, a common ploy used in too many movies Skyfall, The Dark Knight, Silence of the Lambs, X-Men 2, Star Trek: Into Darkness, etc.

Through some reasonable deductions the Avengers figure Loki intends to open a portal to an alien world which will then attack Earth. The center of this invasion will be Stark Tower unless our group of heroes can put aside their differences and come save the day.

The acting in this movie is very good all around and Tom Hiddleston was a stand out as the bad guy. The special effects are second to none and it was very impressive when the SHIELD home base lifts out of the water to take flight, which doesn’t sound like much until you see a full sized aircraft carrier fly. This movie is a must see.
