On May 25th 1977, the world was taken to a place “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…”. It is now 37 years later and the adventure continues, Luke Skywalker (Hamill) the last Jedi has vanished and the rebellion is trying to find him. A new threat has risen called the “First Order” and they are intending to rule the galaxy. Their commander is a Sith by the name of Kylo Ren (Driver) and he wants to kill the last Jedi.

Rey (Ridley) is a scavenger on Jakku who believes that she must stay because someone is going to return, the force has other plans. Poe Dameron (Isaac), Finn (Boyega) and a droid carrying valuable information escape from the First Order and crash on Jakku. Poe is separated from Finn and the droid  who wind up running into Rey. The First Order are close behind trying to get the droid. The ship they intend to escape in is destroyed, so they take a piece of garbage instead. Rey winds up flying the ship and Finn takes control of the weapons. They manage to escape with some excellent action sequences and leave the planet. Their piece of garbage breaks down and they are taken into another ship with a tractor beam.

It is at this point we are reintroduced to Han Solo (Ford) and Chewbacca (Mayhew) the story takes off from there. It is quite a nostalgic moment as the two walk around the Millennium Falcon and that is because both the characters and the real life actors had not been on that ship for 32 years (Return of the Jedi 1983). The director J.J. Abrams lets us enjoy this great moment along with the actors. He then gives us one of the best sequences in the movie when two different factions are both ready to kill Han Solo, but he tries to talk his way out of it.

The rebellion must stop the First Order and they need all the help they can get. The “Force” is all they need.

J.J. Abrams reintroduced us to Star Trek and he did a masterful job in bringing that story back to life. He has done it again with the Star Wars franchise. It is his attention to story that makes this movie so good. The performance of Daisey Ridley is incredible and she managed to carry this film into a new chapter, she had help from the previous cast members but she did not need it. Adam Driver does an excellent job as the new bad guy in the series with anger management issues. John Boyega delivers some dramatic moments and some comedic moments as well, making the casting choices flawless for this film. Lawrence Kasdan helped write this movie which is the third film in the series he has contributed to (The Empire Strikes Back and The Return of the Jedi). This decision to bring him back helped the continuity of the story.

There are great moments throughout this movie and it was fun to visit this world again. I believe you will enjoy this journey as well.
