This is M. Night Shyamalan’s tale of alien invasion, it is well crafted and presents us with a different take on an old story. The crafting of character is what separates this movie from other invasion films. We are witness to a family in mourning from the beginning of this film. They are struggling with the loss of Colleen Hess who was victim of an unfortunate accident. The family is doing their best but everyone is still hurting in one form or another. Reverend Graham Hess has lost his faith since his wife’s death and vows not to waste another second on prayer. He is bitter and needs time to heal, unfortunately the aliens are not going to give him the time he needs. Mel Gibson gives an amazing performance in this movie.
