This is a heart warming coming of age story. William Miller (Fugit) gets to write a review on a band. He winds up getting paid to write a story on an up and coming band called “Stillwater”. He negotiates a fair price for his pay and Rolling Stone Magazine agrees to pay him for his story, but no one seems to know that he is only fifteen years old. He befriends Penny Lane (Hudson) who is very close with the guitarist for Stillwater, Russell Hammond (Crudup). His guitar playing is the best part of Stillwater and the band is struggling with its identity. This struggle is poignantly shown when the group gets their first t-shirt and tempers fly. The life on the road is difficult for William and he has trouble getting his interview with Russell. Some very touching moments and a knockout performance from Kate Hudson. Cameron Crowe delivers a great movie, which is based on his life.
