A troubling true story about a brutal rape that took place in Central Park in New York City in 1989. Five youths were put on trial based on taped confessions and testimony. The DNA evidence came back before the trial and not one of the five suspects’ DNA matched what was found on the victim. The prosecution decided to proceed to trial anyway. This movie shows the monumental failure of the justice system in New York City. During the movie it was stated that if this crime was committed one hundred years earlier these five boys would have been lynched. This is a gripping documentary and this event changed the five boys forever.
